You can ask for access to any environmental information held by or for the OCEI.
You can make a request by emailing it to info@ocei.ie
Alternatively, you may post it to: Information Officer, The OCEI, 6 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2.
You should state that your request is made under the AIE Regulations, provide your contact details, and state, in terms that are as specific as possible, the environmental information which you are seeking. If you require access in any specific form or manner, you should specify that in your request. Making an AIE request is free of charge.
Normally you can expect to be notified of a decision on your request within one month of its receipt.
If you consider that your request was refused wholly or partially, or was otherwise not properly dealt with in accordance with the AIE Regulations, you may, not later than one month following the receipt of the decision from the OCEI, ask for an internal review of all or part of the decision. This review will be carried out by an OCEI officer who is equal or more senior in rank to the person who made the initial decision. There is no fee for an internal review.
You will be notified of the internal review decision, and the reason for that decision, within one month of the date of receipt by the OCEI of your request for an internal review.
If you are dissatisfied with the internal review decision, or if you have not received a decision within one month of us receiving your request for internal review, the law provides that you can appeal to the Commissioner for Environmental Information.
We may apply a fee for making information available to you, as follows:
Details of charges, if any, will be advised in our decision letter. We may waive any fee when the cost of supplying information is estimated to be less than €10. There is no fee for viewing records at our office or for records supplied to you by email.
A guide to the functions of the OCEI and to records which we hold can be found in our FOI Publication Scheme. If you have any queries our Information Officer can be contacted by telephone at +353 6395689, or emailed at info@ocei.ie
